Frequently asked questions - troubleshooting and repairing gas heaters

In the following sections, you can read the most important possible faults for gas heaters and their causes and repair methods. If you need more information, please contact our nearest support service office.

  • Reason 1- The diameter of the chimney of the building is smaller than the diameter of the chimney of the heater.
Troubleshooting 1 – Use a chimney with the right diameter.
  • Cause 2: The chimney duct is blocked.
Remedy 2: control the chimney path and remove the blocker.
  • Reason 3- The chimney is without a cap.
Troubleshooting 3- Use a suitable cap to prevent combustion gases from entering the heater due to wind.
  • Reason 4- The chimney on the roof is not high enough
Remedy 4- The minimum height of the chimney from the highest point on the roof should be 60 cm.
  • Reason 5- The heater does not have glass.
Troubleshooting 5- If the heater glass is broken and there is no glass, especially when opening and closing the door of the room, the flame will be drawn out of the combustion chamber and the resulting gas will spread in the space. Install the glass or glass of the combustion chamber.
  • Reason 6- The valve for lighting the pilot with a match is open.
Fixing the fault 6- This fault rarely happens when the assembly (pilot, igniter and thermocouple) is out of place or is not installed in the right place and the gasses from the pilot fuel escape from the chamber through the valve of lighting the pilot with a match. Combustion is directed, fix this part and close the said valve.
  • Cause 7- Combustion chamber failure
Fixing the defect 7- It is very rare that the combustion chamber (furnace) is not welded properly, or the welds are separated, or due to rotting and holes, burnt gases leak out. If such a defect is observed, the furnace Repair or replace.
  • Cause 8- Gas leakage from two ends of the hose or copper pipe between the main valve and the heater control valve.
Troubleshooting 8- Test the connection of the hose or pipe to the main valve and the heater control valve with soap suds, and in case of gas leakage, repair the desired area.
  • Cause 9- The leakage is from the parts of the control valve.
Troubleshooting 9- Remove the cover or cap of the control valve. (The covers are either fitted with pressure or connected to the valve body with the help of a screw.) Then, use soapy water on the surface of the control valve and in fact around the adjustment screws. Cover the maximum, minimum and axis and pay attention to which part of the bubble is formed and leaks. Then (according to the exploded shape of the control valve and its parts) open the corresponding screw and replace its o-ring washer.
  • Cause 10- Gas leakage from the connections of the connecting pipes between the control valve and the burner or pilot.
Troubleshooting 10 – It rarely happens that the connections of the pipes connected to the control valve are loose and cause gas leakage. Test this part with soap foam and fix the problem.
  • Cause 11- Obstruction of burner inlet duct by foreign object
Troubleshooting 11- Before taking any action, first close the main valve and open the inlet of the burner, if there is something inside, remove it.
  • Reason 12- deviation of the gas nozzle (Ziglor) from its place.
Troubleshooting 12- If the gas nozzle is deviated from its place due to impact or loosening of its screws, the gas will not be injected into the burner. Place and adjust the Ziggler and the parts connected to it
  • Cause 13 – Extinction of one of the pilot flames
Troubleshooting 13- If the pilot flame is not adjusted, there is a possibility that one of the flames will be extinguished. This causes the smell of gas. Adjust the length and size of the pilot flame. For this, open the screw behind the pilot and use a screwdriver to adjust the flame. You see the pilot while its flame. adjust
  • Cause 14- Obstruction of burner holes
Fixing the problem 14- excessive dirt of the burner and blockage of its holes prevent the passage of the air and gas mixture, the mentioned problem occurs. Remove the burner and clean it with a brush or with air pressure.
  • Reason 15- The flame of the candle is not adjusted and the thermocouple is not heated
Troubleshooting 15- If the thermocouple head is not placed in the flame of the candle, the electricity produced by it is not enough to keep the coil core in absorption mode. Therefore, the coil spring pushes the core out and blocks the gas path. Check the location of the thermocouple and fix the problem. Also, if the candle flame is lower than the thermocouple head or higher than it, adjust it according to what was said in troubleshooting 13.
  • Cause 16- Thermocouple failure
Troubleshooting 16- Test the thermocouple according to what was said in the thermocouple section of the list of gas burners and replace it if it is defective.
  • Cause 17- bobbin failure
Troubleshooting 17- If the thermocouple is healthy. The fault is with the coil, according to what was said in the topic of thermocouple and coil from the list of gas burners, test the coil and if it is defective, replace it.
  • Cause 18 – Too much dirt in the filter
Remedy 18- Remove the cover of the control valve, according to the wide shape of the control valve, replace the corresponding filter.
